Various prayers from yesterday's passages

Isaiah 56

Lord of our Salvation, we will keep justice, and consider Your Law to do it. Though we are weak, You are very capable to take a fruitless servant and make Him to have an everlasting name. We will hold fast Your covenant and come streaming to Your holy mountain for the fullness of Sabbath rest. All the nations shall come and find rest in Your Son. The dogs who tear and kill will be shut out from harming Your sheep. We want only the wine of holy rejoicing and not the drink of drunken rebels.

Matthew 21

Father God, You are in charge of every detail of our salvation. In the most important week of human history, You brought Your Son into Jerusalem in complete fulfillment of all prophesy. Your Son cleansed the temple. The salvation that He brings is wonderful. We ask You to purify our worship and to make us whole in body and soul. We look for fruitfulness in Your church even now. Have mercy on us, O Lord. Grant us faith that is able to move mountains of unbelief. Help us to submissively hear the Word of Your Son and to obey. Cast out of us any spirit of arrogance or evil. We want to follow You, O Lord, not only with our words, but especially with our lives. Bring many into Your kingdom even today. Why should we be hypocrites, when You have done a powerful work of redemption in our lives? Make us faithful in Your service. We build our lives upon the Stone that the builders rejected. He is the one source of eternal life.

Exodus 3

Great God above all gods, You have sent Your angel to speak to Moses, yet Your voice came to Him out of a burning bush which was not consumed. He stood on holy ground and heard Your Word. You have surely seen the affliction of Your people. You Yourself are a strong deliverer. You bring us out of the land of sin, and lead us to our heavenly home. There is no man of power who can separate us from Your love. You are with us, and we shall serve You forever. O Great I Am, send us forth in the power of the everlasting Name. O God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, gather Your people together to hear Your Word of salvation. We will obey You as You lead us forward out of the habits of slavish living. We are free men, who have been called to serve You in worship and love. You can give us favor in the sight of those who hate us, for Your love and power are enough for us.

2 Thessalonians 2

Lord of the Nations, You will surely gather all Your people to Yourself through the preaching of the gospel. Before Your Son returns, we understand that a man of lawlessness will appear and that there will be a great apostasy in the church. Many will be deceived who refused to love the truth, and were willing to worship an abomination. You have chosen us for sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. Help us to hold fast to what is true, and to love Your Son, who has redeemed us from a life of sin, rebellion, and lawlessness.
