Psalm 105

What should the Lord's chosen people do? They should worship Him.

We should thank Him today in all things, and we should call upon His Name, praising Him, and asking for His presence and His help. Let's tell people what the Lord has done. Let's seek the Lord and find Him today.

The story of the great works of God is a personal story, but it is more than just personal. It is communal. There is a community of the redeemed that are united to the Son of God. They have a history that began long before we were born.

The story of our God and His care for us started with Him. He is the Giver of every good gift.

Before He gave Israel anything, He made a promise. He will never forget that promise to Abraham. Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants. He gave them the land of Canaan as their portion for an inheritance.

He protected Abraham, his son, and his grandson from powerful enemies all around them. Joseph, Abraham's great-grandson, was badly abused by his own brothers, But God raised him up from the lowliness of a prison cell, and made him a savior to those who had hated him.

Centuries later, the Lord multiplied His people in the land of their oppressors. At just the right time He gave them a deliverer in Moses, who performed the Lord's signs as a testimony before the Egyptians. God brought His nation out of bondage with the gifts of their captors in their possession.

He fed the people of Israel abundantly in the wilderness. He gave them the lands of the nations. He gave joy and the gift of singing praise to Him. They would worship Him and follow Him in the land.

This is the communal story, from Abraham through Moses, of the power of the promise of God. It has become our story, for the true Worshiper and obedient Son of the Lord has come and done what only He could do. This one most excellent Descendant of Abraham, this Child of the promise, redeemed us through a life that was lived for us and through a death that was offered up to the Father in our Name. Now today we live our lives in His Name.

We have the promises of God to Abraham. We also have the fulfillment of those promises in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Jesus did it. He listened to His Father. He did what God commanded. He worshiped the Lord with perfect hope.

We can ask for His Spirit today, and we can rejoice in the Lord. We can walk in the Promise.
