Psalm 139

What a blessing to have a little one, despite the inability of a baby. What a gift to appreciate an elderly parent for who he or she is, despite the weakness that often comes with age. What a joy for those we love who are in heaven that every tragedy is long past for them, though we still may find it hard to move forward through grief.

Human beings are fearfully and wonderfully made.

You were made by God, made in His image. He can relate to you in a special way, and your soul can have an awareness of His divine presence. Ask for Him above all your other prayers, and treasure Him above every other possession.

God knows you very well. He has a knowledge of you that you simply cannot attain to.

You will never be able to entirely run away from the presence of the Lord. There is no secret hiding place from Him.

He knew you well when you were a little zygote. He knows your body. He knows your soul.

God knows every one of your days on earth; not just the number of them, but even the contents of each one. He also knows what you will do every day when you are with Him in heaven.

The Lord has you covered, not just in some minimalistic name-on-His-list salvation way, but thoroughly. When you fall asleep, He is still thinking about you. When you wake up again, He is waiting for you with a new morning that He planned out long before you were born.

Think about this: You are not the only one He loves this intimately. He knows each one of His loved ones that particularly. His knowledge is different than ours. It is more than an awareness of facts. It is a plan and a perfect power to sustain and to accomplish all His holy will. His thoughts are not just thinking, they are doing.

All this knowledge and power of God is in Jesus Christ. When He died for you, He knew you. His divine nature has always known you and loved you this well. And somehow, you and I, Peter tells us, have become partakers of this divine nature. And Paul says that we have the mind of Christ. What a prize Jesus has won for us in His death and resurrection!

Do you, your nation, your church, your friends, or your family have some overwhelming enemy bent on harming you? Compare that enemy to God.

Remember Jesus, and trust the Lord again for this day. He knows.

Are you overwhelmed by those who hate the God that you love? Don't forget that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Open your heart more fully to the Lord and His love today. He already knows your every thought. Let Him show you a more fruitful way of heavenly joy coming down upon us from on high. Let Him lead you in everything you say and do. There is no one more capable or more worthy to be your Lord and your God than Jesus Christ.
