Psalm 108

How is your heart doing? I want to be able to have this true testimony: “My heart is steadfast, O God!” I want to be fully prepared to worship the Lord. This was the constant passion of Jesus during His days on earth. The church worships God perfectly only when we worship through Jesus.

When we worship God through Jesus, our worship is fully acceptable. When we worship through Jesus, the Holy Spirit is with us, and we are changed. We are part of the togetherness of the people of God throughout the world when we are in the Messiah, the Right Hand of the Most High, and we remember the steadfast love of the Lord.

The Old Testament vision is a worldwide vision. God is not only the God of the Jews. He is also the God of the Gentiles. He hears the cries of Spirit-filled worshipers everywhere who call out to Him through the one Mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus.

God gave His people a land. He promised and He delivered. He was committed to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in a special way. Why would the Lord, with His worldwide vision, set apart one small group, the Israelites, as His own?

God's choice of Israel factors into His eternal purpose in a very special way. From that one group would come the Savior, who is God over all. But God did not revoke His promise to Israel once the Jewish Messiah was revealed. The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable.

If Israel is blessed, she is blessed in order to serve. She is a suffering servant. She can only truly fulfill this great destiny by serving God and the nations through the one Suffering Servant, the Jewish Messiah. This is the way that God's particular love for Israel will work together with His determination to unite all things in His Son. This is the way that all the peoples of the world will be blessed.

The Lord has not rejected His people whom He has chosen. The victory of Jesus over sin, death, and the devil is not just for Gentiles who worship God through Jesus Christ. It shall certainly be a victory for the Jews who are called by His Name.

And even my soul will be changed. And we will all worship the Lord with steadfast love through Jesus.
