Apostles Creed, #17

Continuing in the Apostles Creed... I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day...

"He rose again from the dead;"

Jesus rose from the dead in fulfillment of the Hebrew Scriptures. His resurrection was on the Feast of the Firstfruits, and He is the Firstfruits of a new age of eternal life.

the will of the
Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Jeremiah 23:6 and 33:16 Both the singular figure of salvation and the Jerusalem he brings to life are called by the name, ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

Amos 9:11 “In that day I will raise up

the booth of David that is fallen...
